BAM Business Art Mentorship Program in Grand Junction

Empowering underserved youth in Mesa County through art & business mentorship with local artists

2022-2023 Recap

It’s been 2 years since BAM! began in Mesa County. Thanks to a lot of support from the community; (that means YOU!), BAM! Business Art Mentorship Youth Program has provided art education & supplies, mentorship, art shows, internships, commissions, transportation, meals, mental health resources, and more at no cost to 250 youth in the Grand Valley! Reports indicate youth at BAM feel safe to be authentic & are gaining a sense of belonging as well as life & business skills – leading youth to new opportunities for career paths & education.

10,284 – hours volunteered
2,250 – individuals positively impacted

$6,050 – youth profit in art sales
93 – youth have gained job skills & experience

15 – median age of BAM youth
75% – low income households

90% – 2 or more risk factors
62% – identify as LGBTQ+ or non-binary
49% – in social services/foster system

70 – BAM community events

Program Highlight

As part of the 2023 Futuristic Art Show this summer, BAM teens produced a play: A World To Own. With the support of creative professionals, youth created a script, sets designs and costumes. A youth acting for the first time said, “I wanted to try a totally new art form this season and I was terrified, but I’m glad I did; it gave me a lot of self confidence!”
